Kelly’s Beach is 15km east of Bundaberg. Here the Great Barrier Reef begins with coral fringing the shoreline. The two coral islands, Lady Musgrave and Lady Elliott are accessible by fast catamaran or aeroplane. See the humpback whales (mid Aug-mid Oct) from the luxury catamaran or giant turtles at the Turtle Rookery at Mon Repos from late November to late January. In summer they come ashore to lay eggs and ten weeks later tiny turtle hatchlings make their dash for the sea. Visit the famous Bundaberg Rum Distillery, Bert Hinkler Memorials and Schmeiders Cooperage or take a local eco-tour through the area.

Bundaberg 20 mins Brisbane 4 hrs
The nearest international airport is in Brisbane, a four hour drive away, or you may fly direct to Bundaberg. (A Bundaberg Airport pick-up is available by prior arrangement, office hours only.) Queensland Rail has a service from Brisbane on the Tilt Train (4 hours) six days a week. Don Pancho Beach Resort is located at 62 Miller Street, Kelly’s Beach, Bargara. If driving, exit the Bruce Highway at Childers and take the Isis Highway to Bundaberg (Takalvan Street) then turn right at Walker Street, through town for 8 kms to the Bargara roundabout, following the Black Bull signs to Bargara. Go through Bargara and turn right at the Esplanade through the roundabout and into Miller Street. The golf course is on the right side and the Pacific Ocean is on the left, drive on approximately 0.5 kms until you arrive at No 58-62, Don Pancho Resort is on the left.
