Rod & Sarah are proud parents to 3 children and 2 grandchildren who are all looking forward to visiting them in Hobart.

“We managed Regent Park in 2019/20 and loved the experience. We found Holiday Concepts a great company to work for. We think Tasmania is a fabulous place to visit and explore and we really enjoy interacting with resort guests helping them plan their experiences whilst staying with us. As we are a smaller resort, we get the opportunity to connect with all our guests which is something we really enjoy.”

“The position of the resort is excellent, the central position in Sandy Bay is perfect for accessing all the local restaurants and waterfront and also a short walk into Salamanca and the city. Rod’s favourite day trip is hiking around the Port Arthur area. Cape Raoul and Cape Hauy are his favourites. A favourite restaurant in the local area is Da Angelo, an Italian restaurant at Battery Point.

Sarah’s favourite place to visit is Maria Island and do the great hikes and see the wombats and wildlife. Too hard to limit her favourite restaurant to one as she says Hobart has so many great places to eat.

Meet Riviera Beach Resort Manager, Marion Alink!

Marion has three children and has lived in Lakes Entrance for nine years; she loves exploring the great outdoors with her children and spends a lot of time at the local beach surfing and swimming.

“I have worked at Riviera Beach Resort for almost six years, but I am new to the role of Resort Manager. I started my journey at Riviera as a Housekeeper and occasionally, I would do some relief managing. When the Resort Manager position became available, I knew it would be a great opportunity to get stuck into the role and make it my own.

“We don’t have many on-site amenities at Riviera however, our Saturday morning information session is always popular with guests. It’s a chance for guests to meet each other and learn about the local area. If you have never been to Lakes Entrance before I would recommend attending these sessions. There are so many hidden gems in the area and we’d hate for guests to miss them.

“One thing I’m excited about in my new role is to bring more activities to the resort and work with guests to provide activities that they’d like to join in with.

We’ve put together a list of our top 10 free activities for you to do while staying at Marine Cove Resort, check them out!

Currency Creek Waterfall Walk

The walking trail is full of history, running under the old railway bridge, which was built in 1884, you will also pass an old copper mining tunnel. As you continue the trail you will reach the Currency Creek Waterfall, which usually only flows in winter and after it rains.

Encounter Bikeway

This bikeway/walkway is 30km long, starting at Goolwa North and ending at the Bluff Encounter Bay. The route follows the coast so it’s a great opportunity to catch some spectacular views.

Goolwa Barrage

Enjoy a stroll across the barrage and keep an eye out for seals fishing for their lunch. There’s also a shaded BBQ area so you can enjoy a spot of lunch. The barrage is open 10am – 4pm daily.

Goolwa Beach

It wouldn’t be a holiday without a trip to the beach and at 18km long there’s plenty of beach to explore. Go for a swim, surf, or just soak up the sun on the sand – the beach is patrolled over summer and has handy facilities such as public toilets and car parking.

Hindmarsh Falls

The best time to visit Hindmarsh Falls is during winter and spring or after heavy rainfall. The falls, fed by the Hindmarsh River catchment area, flow down through Victor Harbor and out to sea.

Horseshoe Bay

Horseshoe Bay is a protected swimming beach and is a great day out for families, there are two playgrounds, BBQ facilities, a large lawn area, and a jetty to fish from. You can also follow the cliff path to look out for seals and dolphins and in the winter, you might spot a Southern Right Whale or two!

Kuipo Forest Reserve

Established in 1898, Kuipo was the first in a number of forest plantations in the area created to ensure a sustainable timber resource for South Australia. The reserve covers 3,600 hectares and facilities include walking trails, picnic areas, orienteering courses and public toilets.

Nangawooka Flora Reserve

Flowering starts mid-winter and peaks in early spring; however, it is still a good display into late summer. It’s perfect for any twitchers as 60 species of birds have been recorded there and there’s a wheelchair-accessible bird hide. With plenty of seating and tables, it’s a great location for a peaceful lunch.

Talisker Silver Mine Ruins

This self-guided walking tour takes you through nineteenth-century silver mining, where you’ll learn about the Cornish miners and their families.

Sugars Beach

Located at the end of the Murray River, the beach is approximately 1km long with soft white sand. Go for a swim, fish, or grab a bite to eat at Coorong Café.

A guide to Cabarita Beach and Tamarind Sands Resort

Debra Phillips ( Trainee Grey Nomads ) spent Christmas 2024 at Tamarind Sands Resort and has put together a helpful blog post covering the resort and local attractions.

We spent Christmas 2024 at Tamarind Sands Resort - AKA Cabarita Beach. This is probably one of my favourite places to relax. I have been coming here for a number of years and the whole area feels familiar and homely. The area has certainly grown since the 00’s but it keeps its beachside vibe and is only a short drive to major areas like the Gold Coast or Byron Bay if you feel like throwing yourself into the hustle and bustle (which we did not).

One of my favourite things about Tamarind Sands resort is the pool and BBQ area and, surprisingly, it never seems to get too busy. I guess many guests are out exploring the area. There’s also a hot spa to relax in - perfect after a long bike-ride, plenty of electric BBQs and outdoor tables and chairs. There’s a tennis court and mini-golf course right at the resort. If you have kids in tow there is a games room and guest lounge along with a jumping castle. Like the majority of Holiday Concepts resorts they have the Big Breakfast and pancake breakfast - always very popular! I noticed during the Christmas break there were quite a few Christmassy activities aimed at the kids.

What’s there to do at Tamarind Sands

For us, the week was about relaxing and bike-riding and having a quiet Christmas before leaping into 2025. The good thing about this resort and it’s location is you can be as busy or relaxed as you like. You can hang out at the resort and enjoy their facilities or get out and about seeing the Tweed Valley district.

There are a number of great golf courses in the area if that’s your thing - my favourite is the Chinderah Golf Course although it gets really busy at times. Pottsville and Murullimbah also have great courses.

We re-discovered Husk Distillery where we enjoyed a magnificent locally distilled gin and rum and light lunch overlooking the beautiful lawns. Eating and drinking are two of my favourite things when I am on holidays and Husk didn’t disappoint. There’s nothing more decadent than sipping gin and tonic of an afternoon and eating canapes.

Northern Rivers Rail Trail

We rode the Northern Rivers Rail Trail for the 2nd time and I absolutely loved it. It’s so picturesque, quite flat and everything was so amazingly green. In many spots you ride through tree canopies - keeping everything nice and cool. I love that the towns enroute have really embraced the cyclists with toilets, tables and cafes easily accessible. They even have bike maintenance stations and pumps. The ride to and from Murullimbah was 49k which I think was a pretty fair effort! As we were on the home strait I saw a little cafe called ‘Numb Bum’ at Stokers Siding which was definitely how I was feeling at that point. (If you forget your bike you can hire them from the Murwullimbah train station)

Tumbulgum

This is a really cute little village right on the Tweed and Rous rivers (and where we went to the Husk distillery). I’m not 100% sure how it’s pronounced but I like “Tumble Gum” - sounds very poetic. There are a couple of cafes, a bakery and the hotel. The pub ( Tumbulgum Tavern ) was really busy the day we went but we have enjoyed meals there before sitting out on the deck and overlooking the river - such a perfect setting. This time, we just enjoyed an ice-cold beer as it was a sweltering hot day (not unusual for December!) before heading back to the resort for a swim.

Hastings Point / Pottsville

Only about 5 minutes drive south of Cabarita Beach you will find Hastings Point and Pottsville. Both spots are well worth a visit. Hastings Point has a great caravan park and swimming/fishing spots while Pottsville also has surfing beaches, cafes, hotel, fabulous bakery as well as an IGA, butcher and other essential services. Both spots are a great bike-ride (return approx 25km). You will often find a market on at Pottsville selling quirky craft and local produce. Below are just a couple of pictures taken from the headland at Hastings Point.

Kingscliffe

Another great beach and shopping precinct just north of Tamarind Sands - well worth a visit. It has a fabulous hotel as well as a surf club, a couple of caravan parks and heaps of spots to enjoy food and coffee. There is a bike path (or walking if you prefer) from Cabarita Beach right through to Kingscliffe and it’s about 22km return. The path has plenty of places to stop with walkways directly to the beach as well as some quirky art installations along the way. My favourite coffee shop - Zinc - is right on the Kingscliffe foreshore. For all the market tragics, they often have a local market at Salt Village with local produce, crafts, clothes plus heaps more.

Tamarind Sands Resort

If you are arriving at the resort and need to get groceries etc, the area has plenty of shops including a Woolworths, butcher shop, bottle shop and pharmacy right in the main street (as well as a nail salon ). Further north at Casuarina they have Coles plus a bakery, butcher, cafes and a bottle shop. Both centres are perfect to pick up everything you will need.

If you are looking to eat out at Cabarita Beach all within walking distance of the resort (keep in mind there is a bit of a hill to walk up) there are plenty of options including the Hotel, the surf club, the bowls club and one of our favourites, Hot Wok . Most food tastes are catered for including Sushi, Pizza, Burgers and Italian. You definitely won’t go hungry!

Sandra and Jason manage Marine Cove Resort, located in Goolwa, just over an hour from Adelaide on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

In their spare time, Jason can be found playing board games or watching rally car racing, while Sandra will most likely be baking or crafting.

“We’ve managed the resort for ten years now, so we’ve seen a lot of exciting upgrades and changes to the resort. A personal favourite would have to be the games in the games room that Jason constructed from recycled materials.”

“We both enjoy being a part of the Goolwa community and living in such a beautiful area. When guests ask us where they should visit during their stay, we always recommend they take a cruise on the Spirit of the Coorong which goes through the beautiful Coorong National Park.”

Many families are switching up their holiday dynamic by inviting their parents, children, and even grandchildren to join them on their adventures.

This growing trend has many benefits including shared childcare and splitting costs, but the most valuable is the quality time and memories made together as a family.

Cath spent her childhood going on holiday to Bright with her nan and pop, once she became a parent, she wanted her children to experience the same holidays as she did when she was their age.

“Each year we book a week at The Bright Resort for my family, mum & dad, my brother and his children. It gives us all uninterrupted quality time and it’s great for all the kids to hang out with their cousins and grandparents for longer.

Mum loves spending time with the grandchildren, which means we can get away for a couple of hours to have a grown-up dinner and not have to worry about childcare or eating somewhere that the kids will like, which would not happen if we travelled just ourselves.

Visit Salamanca

· Salamanca Place, in Sullivan’s Cove, is Hobart's favourite hangout! Lined with a long row of simple Georgian sandstone warehouses built in the 1830s, these buildings are now home to lots of boutique craft and design shops, jewellers, coffee shops, restaurants, the Peacock Theatre, fashion boutiques and artists’ galleries, and upstairs is the Salamanca Arts Centre.

· Every Saturday, Salamanca comes alive with the Market! You can buy anything from handmade wooden toys, to funky clothes, fruit and veggies, ancient pottery, you name it! Beautiful green lawns beckon with park benches and trees that twinkle with fairy lights of an evening! Salamanca Square, just behind Salamanca Place, has some fabulous coffee shops and restaurants! We love the Laundromat Machine Cafe (the caramel, pecan and ricotta pancakes are incredible! Inside the Square next to the giant chess board!), the Retro Cafe, The Quarry, Tricycle, and Dr. Coffee are also great! Don’t miss Norman & Dann’s handmade chocolates either.

· Then during the afternoon/ evening Salamanca shifts into party mode. Every Friday night from 5.30 to 7.30pm, the Salamanca Arts Centre Courtyard rocks to the sounds of Rektango. The band plays gypsy, jazz and swing music. For a few more drinkies, the bars we love include: Cargo (GREAT wood fired pizza, gelato, and drinks of course!), James Squire Bar, The Quarry, Barcelona, and Irish Murphy’s (pub) is always fun too. MONA – Museum of Old and New Art

· The opening of the MONA has created such a stir since opening in early 2011 and is the nation’s largest private art collection. Monanism, the opening exhibition, reveals Egyptian mummies, ancient coins and curiosities alongside some of the world’s most infamous and thought-provoking contemporary art. David Walsh’s aim was for every one piece you love, there will be one that you hate and one that is offensive... and I think he has pretty much been successful with that! Take the ferry over to this incredibly located museum and see what all the fuss is about...

Go up Mount Wellington

· Rising 1270 metres (around 4,000 feet) above Hobart's harbour and the wide Derwent River, Mount Wellington provides a wilderness experience within 20 minutes' drive of the city and is much loved by locals. The 21-kilometre (13-mile) drive to the summit takes you from temperate rainforest to sub-alpine flora and glacial rock formations, ending in panoramic views of Hobart, Bruny Island, South Arm and the Iron Pot and the Tasman Peninsula. Check out the view from the interpretation centre (which protects you from the blustering winds!!!) Open viewing platforms on the western side of the car park look out to the southern World Heritage Area beyond. Also heaps of bushwalking tracks everywhere! No other city in Australia has a vista like this one. Don’t forget your coat!!!

Cascade Brewery

· It's been called a must-do Hobart experience... The Cascade Brewer tour. You'll learn about Australia's oldest brewery, its finest beers, the brewing process and a little something our brewers call 'The Feel". Intertwine it with some of the brewers' stories and the beautiful 'Woodstock' gardens, before topping it off with a real taste of history - a fresh one directly from the taps. Located in South Hobart, 10 mins from town.

Cascade Female Factory

· Female Factory Historic Site is the most significant site associated with female convicts in Australia. The World Heritage-listed Cascades Female Factory tells the story of the displacement, mistreatment and forced migration of convict women and girls, and their contribution to colonisation throughout the history of colonial Australia to the present day.

Richmond

· A delightful Georgian village not far from Hobart. It has Australia's oldest bridge (built in 1823) and Roman Catholic Church (established in the 1830s). Both are actually still in use. We love it for the old school sweet shop, for feeding the ducks at the river (by the old Richmond Bridge), lazy day picnics, for getting lost in the mazes, and for dressing up in crazy old clothes and getting black and white pictures taken! There is also the Richmond Gaol (get put into solitary confinement!) and many a good Ghost Tour to be had...

Port Arthur

· Port Arthur Historic Site on the Tasman Peninsula is Australia’s most intact and evocative convict site. Presenting more than 30 buildings, ruins and restored period homes, dating from the prison’s establishment in 1830 until its closure in 1877. During this time about 12,500 convicts served sentences and for many it was a living hell. Go on the Ghost Tour.... if you dare!

· Hop-on and hop-off as many times as you like, or stay on board and do the 90-minute city loop tour – the choice is yours! You can make use of resort facilities when not staying at the resort. This is available at 7/10 HC resorts (excl. Regent Park Apartments, Mt Martha Valley Resort and Riviera Beach Resort). This must be booked via the resort at least 24 hours prior to arrival.

The unit you stay in:

Take care of your timeshare unit as if it were your own home. Clean up after yourself and report any maintenance issues promptly. Timeshare owners are the best guests in the hospitality industry as they have pride of ownership.

Make use of amenities:

Take advantage of the amenities and activities offered by the resort, and any deals they have with outside operators such as tour guides, golf courses, pools, fitness rooms, restaurants, and spas.

Local experiences:

Explore the local culture and attractions. Don't limit yourself to the resort; venture out to experience the destination fully.

Follow These Tips & Make the Most of your Timeshare Ownership

Prepay your Maintenance Fees up to 2 Years in Advance

You can prepay your Maintenance Fees up to 2 years in advance. Prepayments can be made based on current years levies. If you wish to prepay via instalments, this can be done via Member Services, on the member portal or Bpay (for most membership types). You can choose either weekly, fortnightly or monthly instalments. Choose any instalments that suit you as long as the balance is paid in full by the due date each year.

Avoid Paying a Deferral Fee

Weeks members can use their entitlement week during the first 12 months of its validity at any one of the Holiday Concepts resorts for no additional fees, e.g. use your 2024 week to book a stay during 2024 for any owners on the account at a Holiday Concepts resort and pay nothing more. Points members can use their entitlement during the first 24 months of their validity at any one of the Holiday Concepts resorts without incurring a deferral fee. If points are not used during the first 24 months of validity, a deferral fee is applicable for use for an additional 12 months.

HC Direct

HC Direct is an internal exchange service of Holiday Concepts operated by Member Services. HC Direct allows members to keep their entitlements banked with Holiday Concepts for an additional two years beyond its original entitlement year with payment of a deferral fee. Your entitlement will be automatically banked with HC Direct each year if unused. However, points members have 24 months to use their entitlement at any one of the Holiday Concepts resorts without paying a deferral fee, and can use their entitlement for an additional 12 months by paying a deferral fee.

Exchange Options

Explore exchange programs like HC Direct if you want to holiday in different locations. This allows you to use your timeshare for stays at other resorts in Australia & worldwide. Requests for exchange availability can be added up to 2 years in advance.

Members Online Portal

Set up online access so you can log into your account online to check availability (online entitlement availability opens up 23 months in advance), confirm bookings and to view, download and pay your annual Maintenance Fees. This portal is for Holiday Concepts owners and for Holiday Concepts resort availability only.

Book up to 2 Years in Advance

Holiday Concepts resort availability opens exactly 2 years to the date via Member Services. This is highly recommended if you are looking at getting away in peak times like school holidays and public holiday long weekends or have specific travel dates in mind. If you are worried about events that may pop up, you can always cancel/change your booking right up until 28 days prior to your check-in date with little to no penalty depending on entitlement used.

Choose the Right Location

Research and select a holiday that appeals to your interests and travel preferences. Consider factors like seasonal climate, activities, and proximity to attractions.

Flexibility

Be flexible with your travel dates. This can increase the chances of securing the best accommodations and deals.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend travel insurance for all booking types to cover you in case of the unknown! Our travel department can provide a quote for travel insurance, flights, car hire, cruises/tours and more on 1300 369 463 option 3.

Waitlist

A waitlist request can be placed if your preferred resort is fully booked. This is a non-obligation request, so whilst there is no guarantee that we will receive a cancellation, in the event that we do, we will contact the member, but if they have already made other plans that is fine too.

Guest Certificates

Family and friends can enjoy the benefits of your timeshare by simply adding a guest certificate to a booking. For an additional $50* a guest certificate is a great way of sending family and friends on a relaxing holiday to one of the thousands of resorts around the world.

Dog-Friendly Units

We have dog-friendly units available at Lakeside Country Club, Mt Martha Valley Resort, Bellbrae Country Club and The Bright Resort for small to medium sized dogs. $169* for 1 dog and $210* for 2 dogs. This must be confirmed and paid at the time of booking.

Queensland Winter Escapes

Members from southern states looking to escape the winter and go up north for some warmth between May and November need to place requests well in advance (at least 6 months) to try and secure exchange availability for Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast & North Queensland (Port Douglas).

Availability for exchange resorts in Queensland is generally not always readily available therefore an ongoing search request is generally required to obtain exchange availability.

Tamarind Sands (Northern NSW) is the perfect option if you want winter warmth and better yet, you can see availability up to 2 years in advance.
